Beyond Imagination: A Journey Through 60 Years of Creative Expertise

The Alex Dufresne Gallery is pleased to present Beyond Imagination, a new solo exhibition by renowned Northern Ontario artist Jack Lockhart, running from April 4 to May 2, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Saturday April 4 from 2:00 to 4:00pm, with the artist present.

For over 60 years, Lockhart has captivated audiences with his vivid imagination, inventive techniques, and deep commitment to creative exploration. Beyond Imagination brings together an exciting range of new and retrospective artworks, showcasing Lockhart’s talent with watercolour, acrylic, and oil while featuring pieces that span realism, impressionism, abstraction, and even three-dimensional mixed media works (3D glasses will be available at the show!)

Lockhart describes art as both his passion and his legacy. His work has been collected around the world in private and corporate collections, and he has spent decades sharing his knowledge with artists of all ages. This exhibition highlights not only his creative evolution but also his willingness to push the boundaries of style, technique, and form.

“I have always been driven by curiosity and the need to create,” says Lockhart. “The show celebrated the variety and innovation I’ve explored throughout my career. My hope is that visitors feel the joy I experience when painting – and perhaps leave inspired with ideas of their own.”

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to speak directly with the artist during the opening reception, learning more about his approach to colour, composition, framing, and the artistic life.
