The J.O.Y. Band has 68 members ranging in age from 18 to 91. In 2007 Betty Farris, a retired high school music teacher, started an instrumental class for adults who had never played an instrument before. In a matter of months, the band with 25 members played their first concert in a church. In 2009, Neil Kennedy, also a retired music teacher, joined the band as Co-Director. They play for many community events and all proceeds are donated to local charities.
