Join visiting artist Natasha Barrett and learn very specialized techniques for recording and producing Ambisonic soundscapes. Ambisonics is a technique for creating 3-d impressions of auditory space with a high degree of detail that is not always possible with other techniques and is beginning to find its way in game audio design.

The intensive will begin with recording the soundscape at Warbler's Roost just after dawn. After a potluck lunch the workshop will move to NAISA North Media Arts Centre in South River to learn techniques for monitoring, editing and rendering Ambisonic recordings. On Saturday night there will be a performance by Natasha Barrett using many of the techniques taught during the workshop. On Sunday morning the workshop will conclude with Darren Copeland facilitating any finalization of participants’ works carried out during the workshop.

For the Saturday morning, participants are advised to dress warmly in the event of cool temperatures, and if possible, bring any outer clothing that is bright orange or yellow. There is some recording and computer equipment available but participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

Workshop Admission is $100. For an additional $100 workshop participants can stay 2 nights with breakfast at Warbler's Roost.
